The Committee for Gender Concerns organized its first quarterly talk on 24 November 2025, from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at LHC4.
Prof. Usha Raman from the University of Hyderabad delivered an informative talk titled “The Digital Layering of Social Life: Gender Dynamics in Today’s World.”
The session sparked meaningful discussion on how digital environments shape social relationships and gender experiences in contemporary society.
The Committee for Gender Concerns organized a gender sensitization event for all new students on Sept 17, 2025, between 4.00 and 5.30 pm in LHC 5. It has discussions in general on gender sensitization, LGBTQIA+ issues, and mental health and harassment.
The session also had Q&A with students.
The International Women’s Day celebration at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad was successfully organized on 11 March 2026 at LHC-7, bringing together faculty, staff, and students to commemorate the spirit of women’s empowerment.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Srirupa Chatterjee (CGC Chair), followed by insightful addresses from Prof. B. S. Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad. Prof. U. Vindhya (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vindhya_Undurti ) delivered an energetic expert talk sharing valuable perspectives on gender inclusivity and empowerment. Ms. Uma Harati (IAS), the sub-collector of Sangareddy District & alumnus of IITH also addressed the gathering on this occasion.
The event also witnessed the launch of the Swasth Naari Sashakt Naari Initiative, aimed at promoting the health and well-being of women.
The celebration also featured vibrant cultural performances by members of the institute. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Vandana Sharma (ICC Chair)
